In this module, you will delve into one of the earliest and most creative stages of game development. This module equips you with the skills to pitch your ideas, transform them into actionable plans, and convey their value through compelling design. Whether you’re pursuing a creative role or another path in the industry, understanding the foundations of concept design is essential.

What You will Learn
This module focuses on the fundamentals of game concept design:
- Learn how to pitch your game ideas.
- Learn to develop realistic action plans based on your concepts.
- Create designs that effectively communicate the value of your ideas.
By the end, you will have a practical understanding of how to take an idea and develop it into a visual and actionable concept.
Professional Tools You Will Use
To complete this module, you will need the following tools:
- Krita (Drawing Software): A professional-grade tool for creating digital art. While Krita is recommended, any drawing software or even pen and paper can be used.
- LibreOffice: A free word processing and presentation software for organizing your work. Online alternatives like G Suite are also acceptable.
- Templates provided within the module will help you structure your assignment effectively.
How You Will Complete the Module
This module combines video lectures with hands-on creative tasks:

Access five (5) engaging video lessons on Teachable, complete with AI-generated subtitles. Mobile users can also watch them on YouTube for convenience.

Produce a Character Design and a One Sheet:
Create a compelling character design using your preferred tools, from professional drawing software to simple sketches on paper.

Utilize the module’s templates as a base to ensure your work is structured and meets the requirements.

Recognised Credits and Certificate
Upon completing this module, you will earn 2 Credits toward your studies. Additionally, you will obtain:
- A Transcript of Records (ToR) (for Finnish HETU/PIC holders)
- A Certificate of Studies (CoS)
